Frequently asked questions

  • Choosing a therapist is a personal decision and can depend on factors such as your specific needs, and the therapist's qualifications and experience. A ‘good fit’ is the largest predictor of a successful therapeutic outcome, so it’s a good idea to schedule an initial consultation to get a sense of the therapist's personality and approach.

I offer a 20 min complimentary phone consultation to see if I am a good fit for your needs.

  • The length of therapy can vary depending on your needs and goals as well as the continuity of care. Some people may only need a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy to address more complex or ongoing concerns.

I will work with you to determine the appropriate length of treatment based on your needs and progress.

  • Yes. Therapy is confidential, which means that anything you discuss with your therapist will be kept private and not shared with anyone else without your consent. There are some exceptions to this rule, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if the therapist is required by law to report certain information.

Please see my Notice of Privacy Practice for greater detail on your legal rights of confidentiality.

  • Possibly. I am an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits, you can submit a “super-bill” to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

All “superbills” are accessible through my secure client portal.

  • *Sessions are 50 minutes and $195.00 per session. Extended sessions are 80 minutes and $275 per session.

For the best continuity of care, I encourage weekly sessions to start. Once progress has been made, sessions can be spaced further apart.

*Sessions may be reimbursable by insurance; please consult your plan.

  • Life happens. As long as I receive at least 24 hours notice you will not be charged for the session.

You will be charged the full fee with less than 24 hours cancellation.

  • EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s a safe, evidenced-based approach to treating trauma. EMDR uses bilateral movements (typically eye movements) to stimulate the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate trauma so that it is no longer ‘triggering’.

I offer EMDR remotely through the use of a specialized telehealth platform.

Schedule a 20 min complimentary phone consultation to see if you are a good candidate for remote EMDR.

  • Online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy.

It is appropriate for most people who have a reliable internet connection, the ability to navigate a telehealth platform, and a private space free from disruption.

Remote therapy does have limitations. Some people, especially those in significant or ongoing crisis, may be better served by in-person services.

Schedule a complimentary 20 min phone consultation to find out if online therapy is a right fit for you.
